About Us

Villa Tempest started out in 2010, as an idea, a simple idea,

the name of a family home.

From that, grew the desire to build a business around the idea of a, “Bed and Breakfast,” Operation in a popular, summer and winter, German tourist destination, and that this could be a family business opportunity for us.  As a sideline operation to the B&B idea we considered the idea of a Weekend Beer Garden, based around the brewing of small batch, handcrafted beers, AND a Savoury Pastry Service for expats in need of a little comfort food.

Unfortunately, the Bed & Breakfast idea dwindled as an option as the practicalities of work, school and access to community services, and reasonably priced housing became a greater priority. The Weekend Beer Garden will probably still get a run as a monthly gathering of friends in the backyard, but our Hanoi Pie ExperimentTsc Tempest’s personal passion and hobby, has resulted in sufficient interest in Hanoi’s local expat community, for local vendors to take up the challenge to produce high quality pies at a fair and reasonable price.

As such, we at Villa Tempest have chosen to scale back our current, Hanoi-based production activities, in preparation for our relocation to Europe. In the future, Villa Tempest as a brand, will look to explore niche markets for Australian-style savoury pastries in Northern Germany.

In the meantime, it is our carefully considered opinion, that the current leader in striving for pie excellence, in Hanoi, is Jafa Restaurant, based in Ciputra International Village and, the pies they offer are worthy of your attention.

Here are some of the things we’ve done, do, hope to do, and hope to continue to do, as we move from Vietnam to Germany:
